Cooperative living is home ownership in a community setting. We enjoy a low-maintenance lifestyle, the tax benefits of being a homeowner, and most of all, we live in an independent community of age 62+ members who have an active social life. As the owners of our property, we aren’t paying rent to a management company or landlord – we have full say in operating the cooperative.
“We were happy to give up all the maintenance chores of a single-family house, but still manage all our own affairs.”
Being co-owners of our building has built a strong sense of community here. Our Village Cooperative is a place that quickly became home. Some of us are more private people, and that’s fine.
“We appreciate choosing our own level of privacy vs. socializing.”
Others are quite social, and we have formed committees not just to manage our affairs, but also to plan community events and provide space for all our varied hobbies.
“There’s so much laughing around here!”
